Kolkata, 12 September 2026: A press conference was held today at Maharaja Srischandra College, Shyam bazaar to promote the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2027 and encourage maximum participation of young people in the initiative.
The press conference focused on creating greater awareness about VBYLD 2027 and motivating youth to actively participate and contribute their ideas towards the vision of a developed India. The initiative provides a platform for young citizens to express their views, share innovative ideas and engage in nation-building.
The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. Amit Majumdar, Principal, Maharaja Srischandra College; Smt. Kanchan Kumari, Deputy Director, MY Bharat, South Kolkata; Smt. Khushbu Gupta, District Youth Officer (DYO), North Kolkata; and Captain Dr. Prem Bahadur Majhi, NCC.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of youth participation in shaping India's future and called upon young people to take an active role in VBYLD 2027. They emphasised that the collective ideas, creativity and leadership of the youth are essential for achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
The press conference also aimed to strengthen collaboration among educational institutions, youth organisations and stakeholders to reach out to a larger number of young people and facilitate their participation in VBYLD 2027 across the Kolkata District.
The dignitaries urged students and young citizens to make full use of the opportunities offered through the initiative and become active partners in India's journey towards a developed and empowered nation.
The first phase of this dialogue is the “Viksit Bharat Quiz” Competition, which is being conducted on the MY Bharat Portal (www.mybharat.gov.in).The objective of this competition is to connect youth across the country, in the age group of 15–29 years, with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, foster curiosity and leadership skills among them, and provide them with an opportunity to present their ideas on a national platform. The quiz is based on India’s progress, culture, policies, and vision for the future of the country. It is being conducted in 22 languages to ensure maximum participation from every State and Union Territory.

Opportunities at the National Level:
Participants selected through the Viksit Bharat Quiz will have the opportunity to progress through various subsequent stages, including essay writing, district-level presentations, State-level VBYLD, and the National Dialogue.
The youth selected at the national level will participate in the VBYLD 2027 National Programme, to be held in New Delhi from 10 to 12 January 2027. At the national level, participants will have the opportunity to present their ideas before experts, Secretaries, and Union Ministers. The final selected participants from each thematic area will also get an opportunity to present their ideas before the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
The event concluded with an appeal to all eligible young people to participate enthusiastically in **VBYLD 2027** and contribute their ideas and aspirations towards building a stronger, progressive and developed India.
